This carefully crafted itinerary takes you beyond the classic tourist route, offering a perfect blend of heritage, culture, nature, and authentic local encounters.

Begin in Delhi, India's historic capital, before travelling to the enchanting region of Shekhawati, often referred to as the world's largest open-air art gallery. Explore beautifully painted havelis adorned with intricate frescoes that tell stories of Rajasthan's prosperous merchant families.

Continue to Bikaner, a fascinating desert city known for its imposing Junagarh Fort, vibrant old town, and rich camel-breeding traditions. Journey deeper into the Thar Desert to Jaisalmer, the legendary Golden City, where a magnificent living fort rises from the desert sands and centuries-old havelis showcase exquisite craftsmanship.

Experience the magic of the desert at Sam, where rolling sand dunes, spectacular sunsets, and traditional Rajasthani culture create unforgettable memories. Travel onward to Jodhpur, the Blue City, dominated by the mighty Mehrangarh Fort and renowned for its royal heritage, bustling bazaars, and striking architecture.

A highlight of the journey awaits in Bera, one of India's most remarkable wildlife destinations. Nestled among dramatic granite hills, Bera is famous for its thriving leopard population and offers a rare opportunity to observe these elusive cats in their natural habitat while learning about the unique harmony between local communities and wildlife.

Continue to the romantic lake city of Udaipur, celebrated for its magnificent palaces, shimmering lakes, and timeless elegance. Explore the grandeur of the City Palace, enjoy scenic lake views, and immerse yourself in the rich history of the Mewar kingdom.

Discover the charm of rural Rajasthan in Bijaipur, a peaceful heritage destination where traditional hospitality and authentic village life provide a refreshing contrast to the grand cities. Then travel to Jaipur, Rajasthan's vibrant Pink City, where magnificent palaces, majestic forts, and colourful bazaars reflect the splendour of Rajput royalty.

Conclude your journey in Agra, home to the incomparable Taj Mahal, one of the world's most celebrated monuments and a fitting finale to this extraordinary adventure.

Itinerary

On arrival at Delhi airport our representative having a placard displaying your name will meet you to pick you up and transfer to your hotel. Today only an airport transfer is included and no sightseeing or any other visit is planned or included. If you arrive in Delhi early morning and wish to do sightseeing then kindly let us know and we shall do the needful and include a visit to Delhi attractions. Overnight at hotel in Delhi.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will go to Old Delhi and enjoy an Old Delhi heritage walking tour. Visit the Sikh temple in Chandni Chowk areas. We will start our walk-through Silver street, Decoration market (Kinari Bazaar), Food street (Parathe wali Gali), Spice Market (Khari Baoli). It is Asia's biggest wholesale spice market. You will be mesmerized once you enter the market with the stunning colours and rich aroma of the of the various spices and dry fruits.

After we visit Old Delhi, drive to India Gate, a memorial to 70000 soldiers who died during the first world war. Drive past Parliament house, President house. Later visit of Humayu's tomb, classified as world heritage sites by UNESCO.

After breakfast drive to Nawalgarh village in Shekhawati region. While most of Shekhawati’s havelis have crumbled and remain abandoned, a small window into the world of these painted mansions is being preserved. Forgotten in the barren landscapes of Rajasthan’s Thar Desert, the Shekhawati region was once home to the unabashed opulence of India’s billionaires. Today, many of the billionaires’ grand havelis (mansions) are crumbling – the fading frescoes marking the only vestiges of the area’s vanished glory.

After breakfast visit the frescoed Havelis. The ornate Havelis date back to a bygone era of rich merchants and a way of life that’s lost, but the intricate paintings adorning the walls depict the stories saved in time for us to explore and become enchanted amongst.  Some are still owned by a long family line with amazing tales to share. An experience you’ll never forget.

Drive to Bikaner and visit Junagarh Fort. The very unusual character of this fort as compared to the forts in Rajasthan it is built on the plain desert whereas all other forts in Rajasthan are on hilltops. The palace complex has decorated interiors which are perhaps the best preserved in the country. Take a tuktuk ride to visit Old city. Overnight stay in Bikaner.

After breakfast drive to Jaisalmer via Phalodi. Phalodi is a small city situated in Thar desert. Optional: On the way, you can visit Bawari village and the surrounding area on a private Jeep Safari (to be paid directly) to meet farmers, visit of a local school, villagers and tribes. It is also possible to have a vegetarian lunch with village chief family which makes for a truly remarkable rare experience. Then onwards to Jaisalmer. Evening free at leisure.

After breakfast visit the city. Walk up to the Jaisalmer fort, through the narrows streets dotted with temples & havelis. You will visit the fort, Gadisar Lake, famous havelis and Bada Bagh. In the evening drive to Sam dunes to see the sun set. Also enjoy camel ride at the dues. Return to the hotel for overnight stay in Jaisalmer. (It is also possible to stay overnight in tented accommodation in THAR desert. Tents are only operational between Oct to March).

Morning drive to Jodhpur. Arrive in Jodhpur and visit the fort. Jodhpur is the second largest city of Rajasthan. It still fulfils its historic role as the area’s main trading center for wood, cattle, camels, cotton, salt, and agricultural crops.

The Old city is surrounded by a huge 9½km long wall which has seven gates. Some of the houses and temples are of richly carved stone, in particular the buildings near the Sadar Bazar.

Visit the Mehrangarh Fort (pictured) situated on a steep hill – Mehrangarh Fort is one of the largest forts in India. To enter the Mehrangarh fort, seven gates have to be crossed. Some of these gates still bear marks of many a siege that this fort has withstood. Overnight stay at the hotel in Jodhpur.

After breakfast, drive to Bera, the leopard county. Bera and Jawai area is an adventurer’s retreat snuggled in Aravalli ranges that offers a tranquil and beautiful backdrop to stay in this one of the country’s most popular leopard getaway destinations. Take a Jeep safari to spot illusive leopards. Also meet with local tribe The Rebaris (Shepherds/Herdsmen).

A remarkable and rewarding experience offered by us, is a visit to see the Rabari shepherds, their livestock and their unique lifestyles in the villages. Tall, proud men dressed in white with red turbans wearing silver ornaments, herd goats and cows to graze each day. The Rabari, also called the Rewari or Desai, are an indigenous tribal caste of nomadic cattle and camel herders and shepherds that live primarily in the states of Gujarat, Punjab and Rajasthan. Return to hotel/camp for overnight stay.

After breakfast drive to Udaipur. On the way visit of Ranakpur Jain temple with 1444 exquisitely carved marble pillars. Further drive to Udaipur. Arrive and check into your hotel. Later take a stroll near Fatehsagar lake. Optional activity: A cooking class with an Indian family.

After breakfast visit the Jagdish Temple in the Old city. Later visit the City Palace. It is the second largest palace complex in India. Later enjoy a relaxing boat ride at Lake Pichola.

We will also visit Sahelion-Ki-Bari or the "Gardens of the Maids of Honor". You can also enjoy a folk dance performance in “Bagore Ki Haveli”.

Overnight stay at the hotel in Udaipur.

After breakfast drive to Bijaipur. En route visit Chittorgarh Fort. After the visit continue drive towards Bijaipur. Arrive and check in to hotel Castle Bijaipur. Castle Bijaipur is a 16th century castle set in the serene Vindhyanchal ranges near Chittorgarh. Take a village walk and interact with locals. Explore the surrounding areas. Bijaipur is an off the beaten track destination which will be an ideal break for you to unwind yourself in the beautiful heritage hotel. Overnight at the Castle Bijaipur.

After breakfast drive to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan state. Arrive and check into your hotel. Evening free at leisure. Overnight in Jaipur.

Jaipur is considered as the first planned city of India. It was founded by Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727. Jaipur has morphed itself into India’s capital of cool. There is a subtle sass in its stride. A silent swag. And it is all under the radar. Very few cities in the world can carry the weight of tradition with the gait of cool as Jaipur does.

Breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Amber fort. Here you may enjoy an elephant ride (optional activity). Visit the Amber fort and later return to Jaipur city for sightseeing of other prominent monuments. You can visit the Wind Palace (Hawa Mahal), Water Palace (Jal Mahal).

Recommended Activity: We recommend that you to take a heritage walking tour in the Old city. Especially designed walking tours will give you an opportunity to maximise your understanding about the city and experience the hidden corners of Jaipur city. Your guide will take you through the vibrant bazaars and lanes of Old City. You can also interact with locals and try some of the best street food delicacies of Rajasthan. In the evening end your tour by visiting Govind Dev ji Hindu temple, located near the city palace. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. One of the important practices that are done in the temple is ‘Aartis’ and ‘Bhog since the temple was constructed and still continuing with it. You can witness the prayer ceremony at this temple. Return to hotel for overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Agra. En route you will visit Abhaneri step well, a hidden treasure and worth visiting place.

Abhaneri – The City of Brightness is a small town village 95km from Jaipur. Originally Abhaneri was named as Abha Nagri, which means the city of brightness, but due to mispronunciation of the term, it changed to the present name. Today, the city is in ruins; yet it still attracts tourists from across the globe.

Continue drive towards Fatehpur Sikri. Visit Fatehpur Sikri. The great ruler Akbar set up his capital here, and built a grand city, but after only 40 years the water supply became too difficult to maintain in this dry area, so all of the inhabitants packed up and moved on. They left behind a phenomenal collection of grand temples and palaces, with the ruins of old houses standing between them. Now it is an atmospheric ghost city, full of green parrots and monkeys. After the visit continue drive towards Agra. Arrive and check in to the hotel. Overnight at hotel in Agra.

Early morning visit the Taj Mahal (closed Fridays). It was built by Shah Jahan as a token of his love for his deceased wife, and is undoubtedly the most romantic burial site in the world.

Return to hotel for breakfast and then visit Agra fort and Mehtab Garden. Later in the evening drive to Delhi airport to take your flight back to your country.

(Extensions are possible to Goa, Kerala and Varanasi)

A wonderful journey that will be remembered
Our seven-day trip with India Personal Tours through northern India – with stops in Jaipur, Agra and Delhi – was a very special experience in every respect. From the warm welcome by our great guide Kunal Singh Shekhawat at the airport to the departure day we felt superbly looked after and accompanied by our guide as well as our friendly driver Vipin. From the very beginning, a very personal, warm atmosphere was created. It didn’t feel like a classic guided tour, but rather like traveling with a good friend. This openness, cordiality and attention has marked our journey from the beginning and has given it a special lightness. In addition to the many exciting insights into history, culture and architecture, it was above all the personal exchange that made this trip so enriching. The conversations, the small details and the fine sense of what interests us made every day special. We look back on this trip with great gratitude and can recommend India Personal Tours with complete conviction. It was an all-round successful experience and we very much hope that in the future there will be another opportunity to travel together.  ...Read More

A Great First Trip to India
India Personal Tours made our first trip to India exceptional. We visited six cities over two weeks, most in Rajasthan, and our guides and drivers -- all friendly and caring -- made sure we got the most out of every site, including some unplanned stops. The hotels Manu and his team chose for us were all also first rate. The company met all our expectations, and we're already planning a trip back!  ...Read More

What a ride through Rajasthan!
Far beyond anything we could have ever imagined for our first trip to India. We joined India Personal Tours, and a small group of like-minded folks, for an amazing 14-day ride through Rajasthan. An unbelievable itinerary took us to places we would never have found under our own steam, from the wonderful chaos of Dehli to small rural villages like Narlai and so many more mind-blowing towns and cities in between, there were unforgettable experiences at every turn. Each new hotel we arrived at seemed better than the last, and we often found ourselves awestruck at where we were staying. Our expert guide, Gudu was absolutely brilliant. Always on hand to share his wealth of knowledge and tips on each location - covering everything with a broad historical, cultural, architectural, gastronomical and spiritual perspective that made each new experience all the richer. Not a bad singing voice either! Gudu also had an uncanny knack for ‘herding the kittens’ of our group, his bright green beret and big smile became a beckon for us as we wandered through crowded temples, havelis and bazaars. He created a warm family atmosphere among our group, was flexible enough to tailor days for our group and even welcomed us into his own family home when we visited the Golden City of Jaisalmer. Big shout out to our unflappable driver, Dev too. The bus rides were super comfy, but I think we managed every to sample every other mode of transport possible too, from crazy rickshaws and tuk-tuk rides, to camels, elephants and even bullock drawn carts!I could go on and on, but we would thoroughly recommend India Personal Tours whether you’ve been to India before or it’s your first time. Halfway through our travels we were already planning our next trip.  ...Read More
