Overnight stay at The Oberoi, New Delhi.

Today, embark on a fascinating exploration of Old and New Delhi, a city where centuries of history blend seamlessly with modern India. Accompanied by your private guide, discover some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks and immerse yourself in its rich cultural heritage.

Begin your sightseeing tour with a visit to the magnificent Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in South Delhi. Built in the 12th century by Qutb-ud-din Aibak and later completed by his successors, this soaring sandstone minaret rises to a height of over 72 metres and is considered one of the finest examples of Indo-Islamic architecture in India. Explore the surrounding archaeological complex, home to ancient mosques, tombs, and the famous Iron Pillar, which has stood rust-free for more than 1,600 years.

Continue to the elegant Humayun’s Tomb, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most significant monuments of the Mughal era. Set within beautifully landscaped Persian-style gardens, this magnificent mausoleum was commissioned by Empress Haji Begum in memory of Emperor Humayun. Widely regarded as the architectural precursor to the Taj Mahal, the monument is celebrated for its harmonious proportions, intricate craftsmanship, and stunning red sandstone and white marble design.

Later, proceed to the bustling heart of Old Delhi, where the city’s vibrant history comes alive amidst a maze of narrow lanes, colourful markets, and centuries-old monuments. Experience the energy and charm of this historic quarter with an unforgettable cycle-rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk, one of Asia’s oldest and most vibrant bazaars. As you navigate its lively streets, you will encounter spice merchants, traditional sweet shops, historic havelis, and bustling market stalls that have been serving generations of Delhi residents.

During your tour, also enjoy a drive through the broad, tree-lined avenues of New Delhi, passing some of the city’s most prominent landmarks, including India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan (the Presidential Palace), and the grand government buildings designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens during the British colonial era.

After a day filled with history, culture, and architectural splendour, return to The Oberoi, New Delhi, where you can relax and enjoy the exceptional comforts and world-class hospitality of one of India’s finest luxury hotels. Overnight stay at The Oberoi, New Delhi.

After a relaxed breakfast, proceed for a visit to the magnificent Akshardham Temple in Delhi, a modern architectural marvel dedicated to Indian spirituality, art, and culture. As you enter the complex, you are welcomed by intricately carved sandstone structures, serene gardens, and a deeply peaceful atmosphere. The temple’s grand central shrine, detailed exhibitions, and beautifully maintained surroundings offer a thoughtful introduction to India’s timeless traditions and values.

Later, begin your drive towards Agra via the smooth Yamuna Expressway, enjoying a comfortable journey through the changing landscapes of North India. On arrival in Agra, you will be warmly received and transferred to the iconic Oberoi Amarvilas, one of the most celebrated luxury hotels in the country. Check in to your elegant room or suite, thoughtfully designed with opulent interiors and large windows that open to uninterrupted views of the Taj Mahal. The property itself is inspired by Moorish and Mughal architecture, with terraced lawns, reflection pools, and candle-lit pathways creating an atmosphere of refined grandeur. The rest of the evening is at leisure to unwind and soak in the spectacular setting, as the Taj Mahal glows softly in the distance at sunset.

Arrive in Agra and begin your exploration with the timeless Taj Mahal, a masterpiece of white marble built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved Mumtaz Mahal. As you step through the grand entrance, the monument gradually reveals itself in perfect symmetry, reflecting softly in the long water channels and gardens. The experience is especially magical in the early morning or late afternoon when the marble changes hues with the light. Continue to the imposing Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that once served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors. Behind its red sandstone walls lie elegant palaces, audience halls, and courtyards that narrate centuries of imperial history and power. From certain points within the fort, you can also enjoy distant views of the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna River. Later, visit the exquisite Itmad-ud-Daulah, often called the “Baby Taj,” a delicate marble mausoleum that is considered a precursor to the Taj Mahal in design and craftsmanship. Its intricate pietra dura inlay work and serene riverside setting make it a quiet yet deeply artistic experience.

In the evening, check in at The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra, one of India’s finest luxury hotels, offering uninterrupted views of the Taj Mahal from every room. The palace-inspired architecture, landscaped terraces, and reflective pools create an atmosphere of refined elegance. Overnight stay at the hotel, with the illuminated Taj Mahal providing a breathtaking backdrop to your evening.

After a leisurely breakfast, depart Delhi and drive towards Jaipur, the vibrant capital of Rajasthan, famously known as the “Pink City.” As you journey through the countryside of northern India, observe the changing landscapes, traditional villages, and rural scenes that offer a fascinating glimpse into everyday life beyond the cities.

En route, visit the remarkable Abhaneri Step Well (Chand Baori), one of India’s most impressive architectural wonders. Dating back to the 8th and 9th centuries, this extraordinary step well was ingeniously designed to conserve water in the arid region of Rajasthan. Descending over thirteen levels and featuring more than 3,500 perfectly symmetrical steps, Chand Baori is a masterpiece of ancient engineering and geometric precision. Its dramatic design and historical significance make it one of the most photographed and fascinating monuments in Rajasthan. Adjacent to the step well lies the historic Harshat Mata Temple, adding further cultural and architectural interest to the visit.

Following your exploration of Abhaneri, continue your drive to Jaipur, a city renowned for its magnificent palaces, imposing forts, colourful bazaars, and rich royal heritage.

Upon arrival, check in to the legendary Taj Rambagh Palace, once the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur and now regarded as one of India’s most iconic palace hotels. Set amidst 47 acres of beautifully landscaped Mughal gardens, this former royal residence offers an unparalleled experience of regal luxury and timeless elegance. The palace’s grand corridors, ornate interiors, hand-carved marble details, and exquisite furnishings evoke the splendour of Rajasthan’s royal past, while the renowned hospitality of the Taj group ensures a truly exceptional stay.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy the palace’s magnificent surroundings. You may choose to stroll through the lush gardens, unwind at the luxurious spa, or simply soak in the regal atmosphere of what was once known as the “Jewel of Jaipur.”

Overnight stay at Taj Rambagh Palace, Jaipur.

Begin your day with a visit to the magnificent Amber Palace, located on the outskirts of Jaipur and set dramatically on a hilltop overlooking Maota Lake. Ascend the fortress either by jeep or on foot and step into a world of royal grandeur, where Mughal and Rajput architectural styles blend seamlessly. Explore its ornate halls, mirror-studded chambers such as the Sheesh Mahal, elegant courtyards, and intricately painted gateways that reflect the opulence of Rajasthan’s royal past.

Continue into the heart of the Pink City to visit the City Palace, a splendid complex that still serves as the residence of the former royal family of Jaipur. The palace showcases a fine collection of courtyards, museums, and beautifully preserved halls filled with royal costumes, artefacts, and artworks that narrate the legacy of Jaipur’s maharajas. The blend of traditional Rajasthani and Mughal architecture adds to its timeless charm.

A short walk leads you to the iconic Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, one of Jaipur’s most photographed landmarks. Its delicate pink sandstone façade, with hundreds of lattice windows, was designed so royal women could observe street festivities without being seen. The structure is especially striking when viewed from the bustling streets of the old city.

In the evening, check in at the luxurious Taj Rambagh Palace, a former royal residence transformed into one of India’s most iconic heritage hotels. Surrounded by lush gardens and grand courtyards, the palace offers an unmatched sense of regal living, where history and luxury blend effortlessly. Spend the evening at leisure, enjoying the palace ambiance, before an overnight stay in this extraordinary setting.

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive towards Bikaner, crossing the arid yet captivating landscapes of Rajasthan’s desert region. The journey offers glimpses of rural life, camel caravans, and rustic villages that reflect the timeless rhythm of the Thar Desert. On arrival in Bikaner, you will be welcomed and assisted with your transfer to the hotel.

Later, proceed for a guided exploration of the Old City of Bikaner, where narrow lanes, vibrant bazaars, and richly decorated havelis create an authentic desert-town atmosphere. The architecture here is distinguished by its red and yellow sandstone facades, intricate jharokhas, and traditional craftsmanship that tells stories of a proud mercantile heritage.

Continue to the imposing Junagarh Fort, one of the few major forts in Rajasthan not built on a hilltop. Despite this, it remains unconquered in history and stands as a remarkable example of architectural brilliance. Inside the fort, explore beautifully preserved palaces, courtyards, temples, and museums adorned with exquisite mirror work, frescoes, and carved stone detailing, each reflecting the grandeur of the Bikaner royal dynasty.

In the evening, check in to your chosen luxury accommodation—either the stylish and contemporary Narendra Bhawan, known for its eclectic design inspired by the last Maharaja of Bikaner, or the majestic Laxmi Niwas Palace, a former royal residence showcasing Indo-Saracenic architecture and old-world grandeur. Both offer a unique blend of heritage, comfort, and refined hospitality. Overnight stay in Bikaner, surrounded by the charm of Rajasthan’s desert elegance.

After a leisurely breakfast, depart for Jodhpur, travelling through the evocative landscapes of western Rajasthan. The drive offers a fascinating transition from the desert plains to the vibrant “Blue City,” where the skyline begins to reveal the majestic Mehrangarh Fort rising above the horizon. On arrival in Jodhpur, you will be welcomed and transferred to your chosen luxury accommodation.

Check in at the magnificent Umaid Bhawan Palace, one of the world’s largest private residences and an architectural masterpiece of Indo-Deco design, still partly home to the royal family, or the boutique luxury retreat RAAS Jodhpur, beautifully set at the foot of Mehrangarh Fort, blending contemporary elegance with heritage surroundings. Both properties offer exceptional comfort, refined service, and a strong sense of place.

In the evening, set out for a guided walking tour of the Old City of Jodhpur. Wander through its bustling lanes, where houses painted in shades of blue create a striking contrast against the golden desert light. Explore vibrant bazaars filled with spices, textiles, handicrafts, and antiques, while the rhythm of local life unfolds around you. The towering Mehrangarh Fort remains a constant backdrop, adding drama and grandeur to the cityscape.

This immersive walk offers an authentic glimpse into Jodhpur’s living heritage, before returning to your hotel for a relaxed evening and overnight stay in this regal desert city.

After breakfast, proceed for a guided visit to the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort, dramatically perched on a rocky hill overlooking the Blue City of Jodhpur. One of the most formidable forts in India, it offers a powerful sense of history as you walk through its massive gates and expansive courtyards. Inside, explore richly decorated palaces such as Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, and Sheesh Mahal, adorned with intricate carvings, royal artefacts, weaponry, and detailed frescoes that narrate the legacy of the Rathore dynasty. From the ramparts, enjoy sweeping panoramic views of the indigo-hued old city below.

Later, begin your scenic drive towards Udaipur, often referred to as the “City of Lakes,” passing through the serene countryside and the Aravalli hills. En route, stop at the exquisite Ranakpur Jain Temples, one of the most important and architecturally stunning Jain pilgrimage sites in India. Built entirely in white marble, the main Chaumukha Temple is dedicated to Lord Adinath and is renowned for its extraordinary craftsmanship—featuring 1,444 uniquely carved pillars, no two of which are alike. The play of light and shadow within its intricately carved halls creates an atmosphere of deep serenity and spiritual beauty.

Continue your journey to Udaipur, where you will be welcomed and transferred to your luxury hotel. Check in at The Oberoi Udaivilas, a palatial retreat set on the banks of Lake Pichola with domed architecture, lush gardens, and reflecting pools, or The Leela Palace Udaipur, offering regal elegance with spectacular lake and palace views. Both properties embody the romance and grandeur of Rajasthan. Spend the evening at leisure, soaking in the tranquil lakeside ambiance as the sun sets over the Aravalli hills, followed by an overnight stay in this enchanting city.

Begin your day with a visit to the magnificent City Palace of Udaipur, an architectural marvel that gracefully rises along the eastern banks of Lake Pichola. Built over centuries by successive Maharanas of Mewar, the palace complex is a stunning blend of Rajasthani and Mughal design, featuring ornate balconies, courtyards, towers, and terraces. As you walk through its grand halls adorned with intricate mirror work, frescoes, and antique furnishings, you gain a vivid glimpse into the royal legacy of one of India’s oldest dynasties. The palace also offers breathtaking views of Lake Pichola and the surrounding Aravalli hills.

Continue to the serene Saheliyon-ki-Bari, often referred to as the “Garden of Maidens.” This charming 18th-century garden was designed for the royal ladies and is adorned with lotus pools, marble pavilions, fountains, and lush green lawns. The gentle sound of flowing water and the beautifully landscaped surroundings create a peaceful retreat, reflecting the refined lifestyle of the royal court. In the afternoon, enjoy a magical boat ride on Lake Pichola, where the shimmering waters reflect the grandeur of Udaipur’s palaces. Glide past iconic landmarks such as the Lake Palace and Jag Mandir, while the City Palace rises majestically on the shoreline. The experience is especially enchanting during sunset, when the golden light transforms the entire landscape into a scene of timeless romance. Later, take a leisurely stroll through the bustling lanes of Udaipur’s old city and vibrant local bazaars. These lively streets are filled with colourful textiles, miniature paintings, silver jewellery, handicrafts, and traditional Rajasthani artefacts. The blend of local culture, artisan craftsmanship, and everyday life offers an authentic and immersive experience of the city. Return to your hotel in the evening for a relaxed overnight stay in Udaipur, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of lakes and palaces.

After a relaxed breakfast at your hotel, you will be assisted with your transfer to Udaipur Airport, where your onward journey begins. A wonderful journey that will be remembered
Our seven-day trip with India Personal Tours through northern India – with stops in Jaipur, Agra and Delhi – was a very special experience in every respect. From the warm welcome by our great guide Kunal Singh Shekhawat at the airport to the departure day we felt superbly looked after and accompanied by our guide as well as our friendly driver Vipin. From the very beginning, a very personal, warm atmosphere was created. It didn’t feel like a classic guided tour, but rather like traveling with a good friend. This openness, cordiality and attention has marked our journey from the beginning and has given it a special lightness. In addition to the many exciting insights into history, culture and architecture, it was above all the personal exchange that made this trip so enriching. The conversations, the small details and the fine sense of what interests us made every day special. We look back on this trip with great gratitude and can recommend India Personal Tours with complete conviction. It was an all-round successful experience and we very much hope that in the future there will be another opportunity to travel together.  ...Read More

India Personal Tours made our first trip to India exceptional. We visited six cities over two weeks, most in Rajasthan, and our guides and drivers -- all friendly and caring -- made sure we got the most out of every site, including some unplanned stops. The hotels Manu and his team chose for us were all also first rate. The company met all our expectations, and we're already planning a trip back!  ...Read More

What a ride through Rajasthan!
Far beyond anything we could have ever imagined for our first trip to India. We joined India Personal Tours, and a small group of like-minded folks, for an amazing 14-day ride through Rajasthan. An unbelievable itinerary took us to places we would never have found under our own steam, from the wonderful chaos of Dehli to small rural villages like Narlai and so many more mind-blowing towns and cities in between, there were unforgettable experiences at every turn. Each new hotel we arrived at seemed better than the last, and we often found ourselves awestruck at where we were staying. Our expert guide, Gudu was absolutely brilliant. Always on hand to share his wealth of knowledge and tips on each location - covering everything with a broad historical, cultural, architectural, gastronomical and spiritual perspective that made each new experience all the richer. Not a bad singing voice either! Gudu also had an uncanny knack for ‘herding the kittens’ of our group, his bright green beret and big smile became a beckon for us as we wandered through crowded temples, havelis and bazaars. He created a warm family atmosphere among our group, was flexible enough to tailor days for our group and even welcomed us into his own family home when we visited the Golden City of Jaisalmer. Big shout out to our unflappable driver, Dev too. The bus rides were super comfy, but I think we managed every to sample every other mode of transport possible too, from crazy rickshaws and tuk-tuk rides, to camels, elephants and even bullock drawn carts!I could go on and on, but we would thoroughly recommend India Personal Tours whether you’ve been to India before or it’s your first time. Halfway through our travels we were already planning our next trip.  ...Read More
