Itinerary

On arrival at Delhi Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative, who will be holding a placard displaying your name for easy identification. After assisting you with your luggage, you will be escorted to your private vehicle for a comfortable transfer to The Oberoi, New Delhi. The drive offers your first glimpse of India’s vibrant capital as you pass wide boulevards, historic landmarks, and leafy avenues that reflect both the city’s modern energy and its rich heritage. Upon arrival at the hotel, you will be assisted with check-in.

The Oberoi, New Delhi is a refined urban sanctuary known for its elegant design, exceptional service, and serene atmosphere amidst the bustle of the city. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax after your journey, unwind in your luxurious room, or simply enjoy the hotel’s world-class facilities. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Begin your exploration of Delhi with a visit to the iconic Qutub Minar, located in South Delhi. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, built in the 12th century, rises majestically with its intricately carved sandstone and marble structure, reflecting the earliest phase of Indo-Islamic architecture. Surrounded by ancient ruins and the historic Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, the complex offers a fascinating glimpse into the origins of Delhi’s long and layered history.

Continue to Humayun’s Tomb, another UNESCO-listed masterpiece and a precursor to the Taj Mahal. Set within beautifully landscaped Persian-style gardens, the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun stands as a symbol of architectural elegance and symmetry. Its red sandstone façade, white marble detailing, and serene setting create a tranquil contrast to the bustling city beyond.

In the afternoon, proceed to Old Delhi, where history and daily life merge into a vibrant tapestry of sights, sounds, and aromas. Visit Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, before immersing yourself in the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk. Here, enjoy an authentic cycle rickshaw ride through narrow alleys filled with spice markets, silver shops, textiles, and traditional eateries, offering a truly sensory experience of the city’s heritage.

After an enriching day of exploration, return to your hotel, The Oberoi, New Delhi, where comfort and understated luxury await. Spend the evening at leisure, reflecting on the contrasts of old and new that define India’s capital, followed by an overnight stay in Delhi.

After a relaxed breakfast at your hotel in Delhi, proceed for a visit to the magnificent Akshardham Temple, one of the most impressive cultural and spiritual complexes in India. Built in intricately carved sandstone and marble, the temple showcases the essence of Indian art, architecture, and philosophy. As you walk through its grand mandir, serene gardens, and beautifully curated exhibitions, you experience a profound sense of peace and a deeper understanding of India’s ancient spiritual heritage.

Later, begin your journey towards Agra via the smooth Yamuna Expressway, one of the finest highways in the country. The drive offers a comfortable passage through the countryside of North India, with changing landscapes unfolding along the way. On arrival in Agra, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to the iconic Oberoi Amarvilas.

Check in to your luxurious room or suite, where elegant interiors and large picture windows offer uninterrupted views of the Taj Mahal—an unforgettable sight even from within the hotel. Inspired by Mughal architecture, the property features landscaped terraces, reflection pools, and arched corridors that create a regal and tranquil atmosphere.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax and soak in the extraordinary setting, as the distant silhouette of the Taj Mahal glows softly in the changing light. Overnight stay at The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra.

Begin your exploration with the timeless Taj Mahal, a masterpiece of white marble built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved Mumtaz Mahal. As you step through the grand entrance, the monument gradually reveals itself in perfect symmetry, reflecting softly in the long water channels and gardens. The experience is especially magical in the early morning or late afternoon when the marble changes hues with the light.

Continue to the imposing Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that once served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors. Behind its red sandstone walls lie elegant palaces, audience halls, and courtyards that narrate centuries of imperial history and power. From certain points within the fort, you can also enjoy distant views of the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna River.

Later, visit the exquisite Itmad-ud-Daulah, often called the “Baby Taj,” a delicate marble mausoleum that is considered a precursor to the Taj Mahal in design and craftsmanship. Its intricate pietra dura inlay work and serene riverside setting make it a quiet yet deeply artistic experience.

In the evening, check in at The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra, one of India’s finest luxury hotels, offering uninterrupted views of the Taj Mahal from every room. The palace-inspired architecture, landscaped terraces, and reflective pools create an atmosphere of refined elegance. Overnight stay at the hotel, with the illuminated Taj Mahal providing a breathtaking backdrop to your evening.

After a leisurely breakfast, check out from your hotel and begin your drive towards Jaipur, the vibrant capital of Rajasthan famously known as the “Pink City.” The journey takes you through the rural heartlands of North India, offering glimpses of traditional village life, open landscapes, and colourful roadside scenes that reflect the charm of the countryside.

En route, stop at the remarkable Abhaneri Stepwell (Chand Baori), one of the deepest and most visually striking stepwells in India. Dating back over a thousand years, this architectural marvel was designed not only as a water reservoir but also as a community gathering place during the harsh desert summers. Descend (as permitted) alongside its geometric symmetry of thousands of perfectly aligned steps, creating a mesmerizing pattern that leads down to the cool waters below. Adjacent to the stepwell lies the ancient Harshat Mata Temple, adding a spiritual dimension to this historic site.

After your visit, continue your drive to Jaipur. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax or explore the surroundings at your own pace. Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Begin your day with a visit to the magnificent Amber Palace, located just outside Jaipur and dramatically set on a hill overlooking Maota Lake. Ascend to the palace by jeep or on foot and step into a world of royal grandeur, where intricate Rajput architecture blends seamlessly with Mughal influences. Explore its ornate courtyards, elegant gateways, mirrored halls such as the Sheesh Mahal, and beautifully decorated chambers that once echoed with the life of Jaipur’s royal court.

Continue to the City Palace, an impressive complex situated in the heart of the old city. Still partly home to the royal family, the palace offers a fascinating journey through history with its museums, courtyards, and galleries showcasing royal costumes, artefacts, weapons, and fine art. The harmonious blend of Rajasthani and Mughal design reflects the cultural richness and heritage of Jaipur’s erstwhile rulers.

A short distance away lies the iconic Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, one of Jaipur’s most recognisable landmarks. Its striking pink sandstone façade, adorned with hundreds of latticed windows, was designed to allow royal ladies to observe street life and festivals while remaining unseen. The structure stands as a delicate yet powerful symbol of Jaipur’s architectural elegance.

After your visits, return to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure, or continue exploring the vibrant bazaars of the Pink City at your own pace.

After breakfast drive to Udaipur. Arrive and check into Oberoi Udaivilas. Flight option is also there is you wish to take flight between Jaipur to Udaipur.

Begin your day with a visit to the splendid City Palace of Udaipur, an architectural gem that rises gracefully along the banks of Lake Pichola. Built over several centuries by the Maharanas of Mewar, the palace complex showcases a stunning fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal styles, featuring ornate balconies, courtyards, towers, and richly decorated halls. As you explore its museums and royal chambers, you gain insight into the regal heritage of one of India’s oldest dynasties, while enjoying breathtaking views over the lake and surrounding hills.

Continue to the tranquil Saheliyon-ki-Bari, the “Garden of Maidens,” a beautifully landscaped retreat created for the royal ladies of Udaipur. Adorned with lotus pools, marble pavilions, elegant fountains, and lush greenery, the garden offers a serene escape that reflects the refined lifestyle of the royal era. The gentle sound of water and the peaceful ambience make it a delightful contrast to the grandeur of the palace.

Later, enjoy a memorable boat ride on Lake Pichola, where shimmering waters reflect the splendour of Udaipur’s palaces and havelis. Glide past the iconic Lake Palace and Jag Mandir, while the City Palace stretches majestically along the shoreline. The experience becomes especially enchanting during sunset, when golden light transforms the lake into a scene of pure romance and timeless beauty.

In the evening, take a leisurely walk through the bustling lanes of Udaipur’s old city. The vibrant bazaars are filled with colourful textiles, miniature paintings, silver jewellery, handicrafts, and traditional Rajasthani artefacts. The lively atmosphere, local culture, and artisan craftsmanship offer an authentic glimpse into the everyday life of this historic city.

Return to your hotel for a relaxed evening and overnight stay in Udaipur.

After a leisurely breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Mumbai, India’s vibrant financial capital and a city where colonial heritage meets modern energy. Upon arrival, you will be greeted and assisted with your transfer to The Oberoi Mumbai, a contemporary luxury hotel set along Marine Drive with sweeping views of the Arabian Sea. Check in and take some time to relax, enjoying the refined comfort and calm elegance of the property in contrast to the city’s lively rhythm.

In the afternoon, proceed for an excursion to the Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on Elephanta Island in Mumbai Harbour. A short and scenic boat ride takes you across the waters, offering striking views of the city skyline. On arrival, ascend to the cave complex, where rock-cut temples dating back to between the 5th and 7th centuries reveal extraordinary craftsmanship. The main cave is dedicated to Lord Shiva and features powerful sculptural panels, including the iconic Trimurti—an awe-inspiring three-headed depiction of Shiva symbolising creation, preservation, and destruction.

As you explore the caves, you experience a profound sense of history and spirituality, surrounded by intricate carvings emerging directly from the basalt rock. The island’s peaceful setting contrasts beautifully with the urban energy of Mumbai.

Later, return by boat to the mainland and drive back to your hotel. Spend the evening at leisure at The Oberoi Mumbai, perhaps enjoying a walk along Marine Drive or simply relaxing as the city lights shimmer across the bay. Overnight stay in Mumbai.

After a relaxed breakfast at your hotel, proceed for a guided city tour of Mumbai, a vibrant metropolis where colonial heritage, modern architecture, and everyday life exist side by side.

Begin with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of India’s most remarkable railway stations. This Victorian Gothic masterpiece, with its ornate turrets, stained glass windows, and intricate stone carvings, stands as a symbol of Mumbai’s colonial-era grandeur blended with its present-day energy.

Continue to the iconic Gateway of India, overlooking the Arabian Sea. Built during the British Raj, this monumental archway has long been the ceremonial entrance to India and remains one of the city’s most famous landmarks. The lively waterfront here offers views of ferries, colonial-era hotels, and the bustling harbour activity.

Proceed to Dhobi Ghat, the world’s largest open-air laundry, where rows of concrete washing pens create a fascinating and unique scene of organised daily labour. Watch as hundreds of washermen meticulously clean and dry clothes using traditional methods passed down through generations.

Next, visit Mani Bhawan, the historic residence of Mahatma Gandhi during his time in Mumbai. Today, it serves as a museum preserving his life and teachings, with photographs, letters, and exhibits that offer insight into India’s freedom movement.

If time permits and you wish to explore deeper aspects of the city, a guided visit to Dharavi, one of Asia’s largest informal settlements, can be arranged. This experience, conducted respectfully and responsibly, provides an eye-opening perspective on the area’s thriving small-scale industries, resilience, and community spirit.

Later, you will be transferred to Mumbai Airport for your onward flight back home, marking the conclusion of your journey. As you depart, you carry with you rich memories of India’s royal palaces, sacred temples, vibrant cities, and diverse cultural landscapes.

A wonderful journey that will be remembered
Our seven-day trip with India Personal Tours through northern India – with stops in Jaipur, Agra and Delhi – was a very special experience in every respect. From the warm welcome by our great guide Kunal Singh Shekhawat at the airport to the departure day we felt superbly looked after and accompanied by our guide as well as our friendly driver Vipin. From the very beginning, a very personal, warm atmosphere was created. It didn’t feel like a classic guided tour, but rather like traveling with a good friend. This openness, cordiality and attention has marked our journey from the beginning and has given it a special lightness. In addition to the many exciting insights into history, culture and architecture, it was above all the personal exchange that made this trip so enriching. The conversations, the small details and the fine sense of what interests us made every day special. We look back on this trip with great gratitude and can recommend India Personal Tours with complete conviction. It was an all-round successful experience and we very much hope that in the future there will be another opportunity to travel together.  ...Read More

A Great First Trip to India
India Personal Tours made our first trip to India exceptional. We visited six cities over two weeks, most in Rajasthan, and our guides and drivers -- all friendly and caring -- made sure we got the most out of every site, including some unplanned stops. The hotels Manu and his team chose for us were all also first rate. The company met all our expectations, and we're already planning a trip back!  ...Read More

What a ride through Rajasthan!
Far beyond anything we could have ever imagined for our first trip to India. We joined India Personal Tours, and a small group of like-minded folks, for an amazing 14-day ride through Rajasthan. An unbelievable itinerary took us to places we would never have found under our own steam, from the wonderful chaos of Dehli to small rural villages like Narlai and so many more mind-blowing towns and cities in between, there were unforgettable experiences at every turn. Each new hotel we arrived at seemed better than the last, and we often found ourselves awestruck at where we were staying. Our expert guide, Gudu was absolutely brilliant. Always on hand to share his wealth of knowledge and tips on each location - covering everything with a broad historical, cultural, architectural, gastronomical and spiritual perspective that made each new experience all the richer. Not a bad singing voice either! Gudu also had an uncanny knack for ‘herding the kittens’ of our group, his bright green beret and big smile became a beckon for us as we wandered through crowded temples, havelis and bazaars. He created a warm family atmosphere among our group, was flexible enough to tailor days for our group and even welcomed us into his own family home when we visited the Golden City of Jaisalmer. Big shout out to our unflappable driver, Dev too. The bus rides were super comfy, but I think we managed every to sample every other mode of transport possible too, from crazy rickshaws and tuk-tuk rides, to camels, elephants and even bullock drawn carts!I could go on and on, but we would thoroughly recommend India Personal Tours whether you’ve been to India before or it’s your first time. Halfway through our travels we were already planning our next trip.  ...Read More
