Your first visit is to the magnificent Jaisalmer Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the very few living forts in the world. Built in 1156 by Rawal Jaisal, this imposing honey-coloured sandstone fortress rises dramatically above the desert and continues to house thousands of residents. Wander through its maze of narrow lanes lined with beautifully carved Jain temples, traditional homes, artisan workshops, cafés, and small shops selling handicrafts and textiles.
